At first, learning literature may prompt the learners' knowledge in reading or it can be said that they engage more in reading. Because by learning literature, the learners will find many new vocabulary words, familiarity with rhythms, literary patterns and beats and creative storytelling techniques. Therefore, by learning literature, the learners are able to expand their ability in mastering a languange, especially in reading because literature is identical with reading. For instance, When a person learns about literature, whether they like it or not, they are going to be forced to read a lot of books. In this case, whether they are aware or not, naturally they will be accustomed with lots of vocabulary in a language. Another reason is all literature, whether it is poems, essays, novels, or short stories, helps us address human nature and conditions which affect all people. These effects may be doubt and fear of success and failure, the need of friends and family, the goodness of compassion and empathy, trust, or the realization of imperfection. Therefore, by learning literature, the learners are going to learn many things relating to humanity which can help them in understanding that imperfection is not always bad and being normal can be boring. Moreover, the learners can applicate many moral values from literature into their own life. For example, when the learners learn about literature and they are asked to read a novel which tells about the spirit in struggling the independence of a country, they are going to learn about how to defend patriotism, togetherness, loyalty, and others.
